Vendor Spotlight: Living, Breathing, Baking

The wedding business is unique in that most vendors are self-employed. While this is great in terms of freedom and creative vision, it does get a little lonely sometimes, working in your office of one or two people. When you meet other professionals who you really connect with and admire their work, you want to tell the world about them, because you look forward to working together again! Shannon from Living, Breathing, Baking is one of these professionals. Smart, reliable, incredibly talented, and an all-around cool chick, I always look forward to working with her and seeing what tasty new creation she’s bringing to the table.

Shannon has worked with us many times for wedding treats and cake smash confections, and her work is consistently gorgeous AND delicious. She’s the first person I recommend when a client needs a  cake or cupcakes, and babies LOVE smashing her beautiful creations into a sticky, lovely mess 🙂

We reached out to Shannon with a few questions so we can give her a proper introduction in her own words!

  1. In your own words, describe what you do.

I make delicious cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops for any occasion. Everything is homemade with lots of love.

  2. How long have you been in business?

    6 years
  3. Why do you do what you do?

I really enjoy the chance to escape from the world for a little bit; tune in with the music loud and work with my hands in a way that puts out delicious, creative and beautiful desserts.

  4. Tell me some of your favorites about weddings.

Seeing photos from the wedding of the customers eating the cake and getting reviews after makes it all worthwhile. Bringing an idea to life is the best feeling.

  5. What sets you apart?

Everything is homemade using as many Michigan made products as possible. My focus is on a rich, homemade flavor as well as a good looking dessert.

  6. Describe your ideal client

Anyone who is fun and let’s me have a little input and creative freedom, to give them something they will love.

  7. What are your favorite wedding trends right now?

    “Naked cakes” with real flowers.

  8. Tell us about your most memorable and fun wedding/event. Or just a favorite memory.

I really enjoyed being able to make and deliver desserts at Hoppily Ever After farms last summer. It is a magical wonderland and made me feel like I stepped into a fairytale.

  9. Tell us one thing we might not otherwise know about you.

I always listen to music while baking; it helps me focus and who doesn’t love singing and dancing in the kitchen?

So if you need party desserts, wedding treats, or that oh-so-special birthday cake, we can point you towards Living, Breathing, Baking with full confidence, knowing Shannon will take great care of you and your tastebuds!
