Finally Zimmerman

This picture makes me so happy. This wedding has been 10 years in the making. Yes 10 years. Not only has this day been waiting for 10 years to happen, but that smiling bride is my sister. And this was photo was taken just minutes after she married a pretty awesome guy, on my hop farm, at my wedding venue. Typing that last part is still surreal to me…

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to get married. You know, life happens. Before they knew it they were starting a family and plans of a big wedding became less important. Then we had this crazy idea for Hoppily Ever After Farms and needed a wedding to take place there. Two years of planning and preparing (I’ll share that story soon), and our farm hosted it’s first wedding when Melissa and Shawn were married with all of their children by their sides (on our hop farm, at our wedding venue)!

It was a destination wedding for Melissa and Shawn and the days leading up to the wedding found our house packed with people. My entire family was in town from Florida and all staying here helping us get ready for the launch and putting the finishing touches on the wedding venue (aka – shoveling more mulch than one can even imagine). Most of the family and wedding party was all from out of town too and on the morning of we had over 30 people getting ready here!

The morning of the wedding was pretty hectic. Not only did we have right around 30 people getting ready at my house, Scott and I had an interview for the farm by EBWTV that morning. Because, well why not? 🙂

After that was all through I was finally able to relax and enjoy my sister’s wedding day. Which was amazing. And no, I did not take any pictures. I left my camera bag at home next to my cell phone and for the rest of the day I was no longer the venue owner, I wasn’t in charge of photography. I was just Melissa’s sister. And thanks to our amazing team, that’s all I had to be. Kevin & Lindsay captured it perfectly. Here’s just a few of my favorites…  😉

This day couldn’t have been as perfect as it was without the help of some seriously awesome friends that were here busting their butts and putting up with me in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding. And huge shoutout to our fantastic team of vendors and pretty dang talented people.
