Scott and I both enjoy seeing live performances. Concerts, plays, variety shows, musicals. We’ve seen quite a few and some of our favorites have been Escanaba in the Moonlight (this was Scott’s first time seeing a play and he loved it so much we had to see it twice! Of course, the fact that it’s about deer camp in Michigan definitely had something to do with it. 🙂 ). We loved Wicked and didn’t care for the Nutcracker so much. But the Beatles Love show in Las Vegas ~ phenomenal.
Today I’m excited to share the next post in my “Local Love” series with a big welcome to the Riverbank Theatre! There’s so much art in Marine City, not only are the unique shops, but now there’s not just one, but two theatres in town! The Riverbank Theatre just opened last month and after seeing the Blithe Spirit at The Snug when we first moved here, we were looking forward to seeing Mame at The Riverbank.
I was also excited was because I couldn’t wait to see what they had done to the place. The Riverbank is located in the historic Marine Savings Bank and I had photographed an event there in the summer before the construction was done. Remember the Gatsby themed surprise party? Well wow what a difference! They did an amazing job and you almost feel as though you’re stepping back in time when you enter the theatre. As they were remodeling the inside, they were able to keep the original bank vaults and beautiful early 1900’s architecture intact.
The theatre will accommodate 179 guests in stadium and box seats. I assure you there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
Roasted with Perks has a coffee bar set up, with several different coffees, flavored syrups and extras so you can create your own perfect coffee!
And if you love chocolate like I do, Todd from the Sweet Tooth is there before the show offering his delectable truffles and chocolate covered pretzels, and you know I had to have one!
We saw Mame the second week it was playing and it was definitely a full house! Those two empty seats are Scott’s and mine.
We really enjoyed the play and the cast was awesome! Kathy was incredible as Mame and this young actor did an amazing job. I can tell you his parents couldn’t be more proud. We happened to be sitting near them at dinner beforehand and could hear them gushing excitedly about the show. So cool.
If you’re looking something fun to do, you should definitely see a show at one of the theatres here in Marine City. You can see their full line-up of plays here. Make it a night out with dinner at the Marine City Fish Company or Anita’s beforehand and a treat after at the Sweet Tooth or Roasted with Perks!
