Today I’m excited to share an event that I recently photographed in my own town! Last year we moved to Marine City (well technically Cottrellville Township) and I immediately became smitten with it. It’s quaint and adorable filled with unique shops and antique stores that I’ve pretty much filled my studio from. There’s a gorgeous downtown area right on the river with Canada just on the other side. We even have The Snug Theater with live performances. Scott and I saw one last fall and had an excellent time and are looking forward to going again. We really do love it here. So when my friend Jennie from Beautiful Day Planning asked me to photograph this Gatsby themed surprise party she was planning for Kathy the owner just a few minutes from my house, I was beyond thrilled! Her team designed, planned, coordinated and executed everything perfectly.
The event took place at soon to be Riverbank Theatre. Yes, we will be welcoming a new playhouse to Marine City which plans to open in early 2015!
Kevin from Twigs and Branches provided the centerpieces that perfectly complimented the evening’s theme.
Jennie worked with Special Events Rental for the furniture and she even had a cigar bar in one of the upstairs rooms.
The old bank vault made for the perfect backdrop for the gorgeous cake created by Laura Amodeo of Elegance in Sugar.
Every last detail was exceptionally “Gatsby” and Jennie even dressed the part!
The guests all dressed up for the occasion too and there may have been a Charlie Chaplin sighting too!
Island Grille of Harsens Island catered the event and provided the picture perfect food
the beautiful Jennie in her element
I think it’s safe to say that Kathy was surprised!
The Sun Messengers provided the music with swingin sounds of the roaring 20s.
Kathy’s family had an outfit set aside for her and after a quick change she was ready to go.
