Ashley & Doug’s Quincy, MI Engagement Session

Ashley & Doug are getting married next August and their engagement session was definitely one of my favorites this season.  I know I’ve said it before, but I love it when my clients make their sessions personal by choosing a location that means something to them, or by including personal touches.  When Ashley and Doug first asked if I would travel for their engagement session, I was excited because I had just started offering destination engagement sessions.  Then they said Quincy.  Um, where in the world is Quincy?  You don’t want to go to New York?  Or Chicago?  Really I’m just kidding, because Quincy was amazing and I love that I have had the opportunity to visit such a beautiful Michigan city.

They wanted their engagement session in Quincy because that’s where Doug is from and they love spending time there.  And I can see why, it was so beautiful and amazingly peaceful.  His family owns tons of acres of farms and apple orchards and it was in Quincy at their Labor Day family gathering that Doug proposed.  Everyone was together one minute and then slowly everyone started to disappear until it was just Doug and Ashley left alone.  In that moment, Doug asked Ashley to spend the rest of her life with him.

I had so much fun with Ashley and Doug.  We literally walked around his family’s property chatting for hours, stopping to take some pictures along the way…

Our first stop was to visit the apple orchards…  Which were delectable by the way, I know because Doug let me pick one right off the tree to eat!  YUM!

It wouldn’t be a true farm without some amazing barns…

and great wooden fences…

I quick romp in the leaves…

I certainly do love fall in Michigan…

A little more walking led us to this amazing spot near the lake…

Love this one…

It was a beautiful sunset and I love these next two images

And one more favorite from the day…
